Health Week

The Teresa and H. John Heinz III Foundation was an original underwriter of "Health Week", a half-hour weekly public-television series devoted to health issues. A clear reflection of the Foundation's focus on human health, health care, and the environment, "Health Week" provides information to people who need to deal with these issues more knowledgeably and effectively.

Sharyl Attkisson is the studio-based anchor of the magazine-style program. Together, with field correspondents, the program offers regular segments on:
  • The week's major health, medical, and related environmental news
  • Close-up stories on research breakthroughs and new health-care techniques
  • In-depth reports on medical conditions, diseases and disorders, treatment strategies, recovery issues, and how to discuss these matters with health professionals
  • Human-interest features on physicians, nurses, researchers, therapists, patients, and others in the health-care system
  • Interviews and discussions of health-related issues ranging from nutrition and fitness to public policy and the economics of health care
Since 1997, the program has been a production of Newsweek Productions, Inc., in association with Maryland Public Television, washingtonpost.com and PBS Online.

Program schedules, a station finder, and subject archives are available at http://www.pbs.org/healthweek.
